Loving Arms Montessori will develop your child's understanding of the world. We offer a Montessori preschool curriculum for Primary ages (3-6) and a pre- curriculum for Primary ages (1-3). Our students learn at each stage of development to help them reach their full potential in life. The Montessori environment is a child size world. By careful selection of educational materials and furniture, and environment is set up that allows the child a place to explore life on a level s/he can understand. The materials are designed to stimulate exploration. The prepared environment is designed to entice the child to process at his/er own pace form simple activities to more complex ones. Through this process we seek to address the child's natural curiosity so sh/he can experience joy in discovering the world.
The Montessori Method of education is characterized by an environment designed to stimulate the child's interest and facilitate their understand and learning through interaction with the environment. In most preschools and schools children are taught in a group by teachers. In a Montessori environment children are led to learn concepts as they work with the many materials in the environment.
WHO CREATED THE MONTESSORI METHOD?
Born in 1870, Maria Montessori was the first woman to practice medicine in Italy, having graduated for Medical School at the University of Rome in 1896. As a physician, Dr. Montessori was in touch with young children and became profoundly interested in the development. Through careful and exhaustive scrutiny, she realized that children construct their own personalities as the interact with their environment their environment. She also observed the manner in which they learned as they spontaneously chose and worked auto didactic materials she provided. Based on her observatios Montessori devloped uniquematerials, a childcentered enivronmnent, and was the first person to revolutionized educational thought and practice by stressing respect for the child, freedom of expression, self education and training, through the use of movements and the senses. Her approach to education stemmed from a solid grounding in biology, ,psychiatry and anthropology, She studied children of all races and culture in many countries around the world.
